I’m not sure these are poems.
I call them lyrical musings.
Unpolished.
Personal.
Sometimes uncomfortable.
A place to question assumptions.
To ask why.
To reject because.
And maybe to ask some of the questions
we’d like to ask but don’t think we should.
I’ve written quite a few…
I’ve been wondering
what ties my lyrical musings together.
Faith. Grief. Ministry.
Family.
Getting older.
Who I was. Who I am becoming.
The subjects wander.
But maybe the questions don’t.
Why do I believe that?
Why do I feel this?
Why don’t I feel what I think I should?
What do I really want?
What if because isn’t a good enough answer anymore?
I write to figure things out.
Usually I end with more questions than answers,
but somehow with more clarity.
So I keep asking why.
